Cleo Kicks Route 66™©

I'm not sure how, or when, this all started, but we thought that Cleo should have her own adventure.  Something different than her little brother Ziggy.  (Yes, my husband walked away shaking his head again!)  We are going to travel Route 66 with Cleo.  Route 66 goes through New Mexico, too!  Talk about luck!  If I find enough info about the places we stop, maybe we could post a little something to go along with the photos.

Just like Paw Print Adventures with Ziggy™, we may have to change things as we go, and learn.  We've already hit a little glitch.  Some of the signs are too tall for Cleo to be photograph with.  She's too small to even make out in the photos.  Some places are under renovation, also.  (The Hiland Theater has been undergoing work for sometime, and we can't even get close to it.)  I guess we'll see how this turns!  We hope you'll join us, as we journey into the past, on Route 66 with Cleo.

Week #2 Her Love Keeps Me Warm

Here it is, week #2 that our Cleo has been with us.  She is simply the best!  Without a doubt....ok maybe one doubt, but that's it!  While she's out for a stroll with us, she has some typical Border Collie behaviors.  She's a light and a car chaser.  It's pretty terrible.  Tonight, she pulled my hubby into the arroyo.  Thank goodness there wasn't any water in it!  He managed to hang on to her in the whole mess.  I'm not sure how.  She's so strong.  We thought Humphrey was strong, and pulled while out for a walk?!!  Cleo has him beat paws down.  She weighs a meek 32lbs, and she took down a 6' 2" man. As my hubby would say, "It's not about her size.  It's all about her tactics."  So now I'm trying to find any tips on walking a Border Collie while on a leash.  Most websites talk about how they herd, not a whole lot on leash walking.  I haven't given up.  There are a few training places here in town that might be able to help, if the internet can't.

Cleo at agility with Tim.....hummm...she needs
some work
Tomorrow, Humphrey has his first agility training since the holiday break.  I was hoping to let Cleo give agility a try, but I'm not so sure.  Humphrey is completely off leash the whole class.  He follows my every move.  Cleo isn't quite there yet.  On one hand, I don't want to hold back any of her skills, and on the other, I don't want to push her into anything she may not be ready for.

Everyday, she trusts us more and more.  The first three days she was home, she wouldn't even lay down.  Now, she lays on my feet.  Humphrey by my side, Brando on my lap, and Cleo on my feet.  One thing's for sure, I'll never need a blanket, or slippers, during the winter season.  Their love keeps me warm.  She has the best eye contact, and has learned three tricks this week (bringing her total to 6 tricks).  I'm also happy to report that she's getting on fine with the Cavaliers.  Today, Cleo and Humphrey crammed into Brando's Snoopy dog bed, and slept together.

I'd better close this out, and do more research.  If anybody has any tips they can pass along, we'd sure appreciate it.  In the meantime, thanks for following Cleo's Diary.  Can't wait to share more stories with you.
